inktype.cc is a browser-based tool that turns handwriting into fonts. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data is processed and by whom.

Processing happens in your browser

All image processing, glyph extraction, and font generation happen entirely on your device. Your scans, handwriting images, and exported fonts are never uploaded to any server. We have no user accounts and no database of your files. The only code we run on a server is the usage counter described under Analytics.

What we do not collect

• No accounts, emails, or personal information
• No handwriting images or generated fonts
• No cookies or fingerprinting

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how many people visit the site. Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookieless and does not track individual users across sites. It collects aggregate page-view data (page URL, referrer, browser type, country). No personal identifiers are stored. Cloudflare acts as a data processor under their privacy policy.

We also count how the tool is used, so we know what to improve. When you download a template, open a scan, use an editing feature, export a font or follow a link to the Mac App Store, your browser sends inktype.cc a short note naming the action and up to three fixed details, such as the template language or the export format. It never contains text you typed, file names, images or an identifier, and nothing is stored on your device for it. Our host, Cloudflare, adds each note to a running count in Workers Analytics Engine. We do not keep your IP address, browser details or anything else from the request. Counts are deleted after three months. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in improving the tool (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object at any time with the switch below. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, it sends no counts.

The Mac and Windows apps have no analytics. Your scans, fonts and settings stay on your device.

Google Fonts

Typefaces (Space Grotesk, JetBrains Mono, Caveat) are self-hosted and served directly from this site. No request is made to Google Fonts or any third-party font CDN.

Local storage

We use your browser's localStorage for functional settings only: your interface-language preference, details of the last template you created, editing settings associated with an uploaded file's name and size, whether you closed the suggestion to get the Mac app, and whether you turned the usage counts off. The uploaded scan itself is not stored there or sent to us. This information remains on your device and can be removed at any time through your browser settings.

Desktop apps

The Mac and Windows apps save projects, scans, previews and editing settings locally. Exported project files contain their scans and edits. Fonts you install remain available to other apps after you delete a project or uninstall inktype. The Windows app keeps a local marker that the free project was used; resetting or reinstalling the app does not remove it. No scans, fonts or project files are sent to us.

Apple handles purchases and licensing for the Mac App Store app; Microsoft handles them for the Microsoft Store app under their own privacy policies. inktype checks the Store license to unlock features and restore purchases. We do not receive your payment-card details or use the Store account to identify your handwriting. Microsoft and Apple purchases are separate.

We use no tracking pixels or advertising networks. Desktop purchasing and licensing use the platform Store as described above.
