Make a handwriting font with inktype for Mac and Windows. Print a template. Use a dark pen, and write one character in each box.
Photograph or scan the sheet. Keep all four corner markers visible. Open the scan as a new project. Each letter becomes an editable outline.
Auto-process aligns your letters and tightens the spacing. Refine the ink, then type a sample to check how the letters work together.
Name your font and install it from the app. You can also export a font file for your apps or website. Use your handwriting in documents, designs, and apps that support custom fonts. Get inktype for Mac or Windows.
How it works
- Print the capture sheetDownload the sheet from the app and pick its language. There are 18, written in Latin, Cyrillic or Greek letters.
- Write one character per boxUse any dark pen, fineliner or marker. Keep each letter inside its dashed box.
- Photograph or scan the pageCapture the whole sheet, then open the photo, scan or PDF in the app. The corner markers let it straighten the page and find every letter.
- Install your fontAdjust size, position, spacing and ink against a live preview, then click Install. To use the font somewhere else, Export… saves it as OTF, TTF, WOFF or WOFF2.
What the Windows app adds
Each scan becomes a project. Your edits are saved as you make them, and a project exports as one .inktype file, which the Mac app opens too.
Click Install and the font is ready in Word and your other apps. You don't have to open the font file yourself.
See every font you installed from inktype, and reactivate or remove any of them.
It runs on 64-bit Windows 11, with Windows menus and Ctrl shortcuts. F1 opens Help.
Your first project is included. Buy the unlock once for unlimited projects. No subscription. Mac App Store and Microsoft Store purchases are separate.
